To set it up, firstly set up your rod, reel, line and lure then depress the freespool switch. Now tighten up the the mechanical brake until the weight of your lure / rig pulls about 10-12" of line off the reel when you gently flex the tip. If it doesn't move loosen the drag, if it falls to the floor tighten the drag up. Doing this will minimise overun. As you become accustomed to the reel you will be able to slacken this drag off to achieve greater distances on the cast.
