Well my bait arrived and my 4 boxes were immediately opened all the pop ups were opened and put under my nose for the first test they smelt lovely. Next was the bottom baits 20mm Coco & Banana which have a great fruity smell and personally I think these boilies would be an edge were other fruit  baits are used  I also like the colour which  a bit like a washed out white . Bottom bait number 2 - 20mm Red Crustacean this red bait has a nice fish smell and you ca...

Hi everyone, I am a carp angler with 25 years’ experience, who’s fished a variety of waters and had fish up to 42 07. I have used mainly frozen baits from top company’s in the past but have been looking to make a change to ready-mades for a while mainly  for storage and ease of judging how much to take on a trip. Some waters I fish I use a lot whereas on others I only fish singles and a light scattering. This obviously is hard to judge on what to take and plenty of times I’ve...

My name is Kevin I am 28 years old and I am one of the proud new recruits for the ‘Gulp!’ Army. I have been fishing now for over 20 years starting off being taken down the local river with my mum and dad for a few hours on a Sunday evening with my little 6 foot rod and little tackle box to catch anything that passed. These first few years like many of us were what built the even lasting foundation of my fishing life that I would now be very lost without. As the years past b...

Twice this year I have been fortunate enough to get over to France for a week’s carping at Crystal Waters, 25 acres, 16 swims all different, fantastic. Peg 2 was my choice on this occasion, plenty of open water in front of me & a nice “fishy treeline” off to the left hand side, a good search around with the marker rod revealed lots of different depths ranging from 8 to 16ft, gravel patches & silt on the bottom plus some areas of thick weed just under the surface so it...

Southern Syndicate.....

Saturday night I ended up back on my southern syndicate. I was staying for 48 hours so had time setting up and looking for moving fish. After seeing a few fish show them self in one of my favourite swims that’s were I headed for. Not a favourite swim because of the long walk! But I don’t mind you don’t catch fish unless the effort goes in to your angling. Three hours before getting my first rod out I prebaited with 16mm squid and liver boilies. After seeing a few fish coming ...

After being accepted to the Gulp! Carp army I was excited for my bait order to arrive. This season I’m fishing relatively tough club water in Bedfordshire. I love this time of year because the catfish start going to sleep and the cat anglers pull of the lake meaning there is less bait going into the lake and there are more swims available. The lake has some pretty massive catfish so the cat anglers tend to fill the lake in with Halibut pellet all year, and the carp tend to...

Fish Care....Chris Cox

We all like to catch carp in pristine condition ! Fish with nice mouths and the only markings on their bodies coming naturally from spawning etc. So it is of paramount importance that each angler takes care of the fish be it carp or any species for that matter. So how do we achieve this ? Well, a few very simple things can be done to ensure that the fish we catch go back into the water in the same, if not better condition than before they were hooked on our rigs. Firstl...

Colmans Cottage Lakes Memorial Match 13/10/2012 It was a cold but sunny autumn day. I drew peg 13 which I was pleased at as the sun would be on me all day. I decided to fish two lines, one at four meters at four and half feet depth, and one in the margins at two foot depth. The bait option for me on the day was two pints of dead maggots soaked in Gulp red crustacean hook bait glug, and Gulp 2mm pellets. I started the four meter swim off with a pot of 2mm pellets and a pot ...

Pukka Session!! Whilst making my way to the lake I was not looking forward to the start of the session I had planned ahead because rain was lashing down heavier by the minute. I arrived in the car park just waiting for a break in the weather so I could take a walk around the lake to see if there was any activity on the lake. I had the whole lake to myself ! What a treat ! As I returned with my barrow two carp rolled in the snags swim, mind made up I was in there like a fl...

Well it has been a hectic few weeks lately as I have been moving house which has left me with very little time to fish, however I did manage to get a few hours at the the lake on a Monday evening. I arrived at the lake at around four so that gave me about two and a half hours of fishing as there is no fishing after dusk. I had a quick chat with the bailiff who informed me that there had only been two fish out all weekend so I would have to work hard if I wanted one in the sh...
