Finally after weeks of work commitments and illness I was back on the bank. This time I was set a challenge from a friend, to catch a carp from a lake I had never seen before. We arrived at taswood fisheries at 7.30 am and purchased our day tickets for Spring Lake. Being the first time I had fished the lake I decided to chat to a few of the regulars. They told that the carp like baits hard on the bottom with minimal freebies or single hook baits tipped with corn. So that was ...

I never thought it was going to happen again. Well I don’t know about any of you guys but this month has been a nightmare for me. Autumn has been over the years my absolute favourite season of the year for angling. Before the coarse season was amended in most counties of England I felt this time of year was one when you could have a crack at those big old fish that avoided capture for most of the season, you know that time when true dreams could come true. Yes I admit in rec...

Finally managing to get some time off work I was looking forward to getting back on my syndicate fishery. The lake in question is The Sitch fishery part of RH fisheries and one, which I have been trying to crack the last few months. After arriving at the lake late afternoon I did my usual approach of a lap of the lake looking for any signs of fish moving. After speaking to a friend it was apparent it had fishing slow the last week due to the change in weather but I finally...

New bait - Would it be an instant success?....Paul McMinn

New bait - Would it be an instant success? Having recently been accepted as a member of the Berkley Gulp Carp Army, I was eager to try out the new bait I had received and to see whether it would work. The venue I chose for the baits first test, would be my local syndicate lake. I have been a member on this lake for two years now and realised that this would be as good a place as any, to start. The lake is approximately 3 acres in size and is a difficult water at the best...

Sebile Lures...on test

Now that we have found a venue that holds decent perch and very few pike, my angling bud Glenn Drennan and I have the possibility to experiment a little further. On this occasion, and as it would only be a short session, we thought we might give Sebile Lures a try. Pure Fishing agent, David Wilson based in Northern Ireland sorted out a small selection to try, ones that he reckoned were “perchy” looking and we decided to team these with the new Nanofil line from Berkley. This ...

Back in March, April and May of this year, my angling mate Glenn Drennan and I dedicated a great deal of time and effort in the hunt for a specimen perch. Amongst dozens of waters targeted, we hunted around many border area loughs and several stretches of the Erne, the famous lough that still holds the perch Irish record of 5lbs 8oz set way back in 1946! The considerable time and effort we afforded in our attempts to achieve our goal was rewarded with many fabulous angling ...

Well my bait arrived and my 4 boxes were immediately opened all the pop ups were opened and put under my nose for the first test they smelt lovely. Next was the bottom baits 20mm Coco & Banana which have a great fruity smell and personally I think these boilies would be an edge were other fruit  baits are used  I also like the colour which  a bit like a washed out white . Bottom bait number 2 - 20mm Red Crustacean this red bait has a nice fish smell and you ca...

Hi everyone, I am a carp angler with 25 years’ experience, who’s fished a variety of waters and had fish up to 42 07. I have used mainly frozen baits from top company’s in the past but have been looking to make a change to ready-mades for a while mainly  for storage and ease of judging how much to take on a trip. Some waters I fish I use a lot whereas on others I only fish singles and a light scattering. This obviously is hard to judge on what to take and plenty of times I’ve...

My name is Kevin I am 28 years old and I am one of the proud new recruits for the ‘Gulp!’ Army. I have been fishing now for over 20 years starting off being taken down the local river with my mum and dad for a few hours on a Sunday evening with my little 6 foot rod and little tackle box to catch anything that passed. These first few years like many of us were what built the even lasting foundation of my fishing life that I would now be very lost without. As the years past b...
